Carl Darnell “C.D.” Heck, Jr., age 46, of Whitesburg, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, September 24, 2016 at his residence after a battle with lung cancer. Carl worked at International Paper and was a former employee of Berkline. At both places, Carl made several life-long friends that he cherished until the end. He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl, Sr. and Fleta Heck; grandparents, Lewis and Lecreti Heck and James (Minnie) and Pauline Williams; as well as several uncles and aunts that he held in high regard. Carl is survived by his children, Rachel (Terry), Preston (Bretni), Jessica, and Madison Heck; granddaughter, Farrah; his beloved sisters, Judy Matthews and Patsy (Freddie) James; nieces, Pamela (Wes) and Shanna Edens; special friends, Sherman McKinney and the staff of Smoky Mountain Hospice who provided comfort in his last days;  and several nephews and aunts. The family will receive friends from 5 – 7 p.m. Tuesday, September 27 at Westside Chapel Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with Rev. Steve Hess officiating. Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, September 28 at Hamblen Memory Gardens. Arrangements by Westside Chapel Funeral Home in Morristown.
