Carol Yount Maxey, age 74, of Sneedville, went to be with her Heavenly Father on Tuesday, April 10, 2018. She was saved at an early age at Cool Branch Baptist Church where she remained a faithful member. Carol’s life passion was helping children through her jobs in foster care, children’s services, and teaching eighth grade in Hancock County. She loved winning souls for the Lord and anyone that talked to Carol knew that it never took her long to ask if you knew Jesus. She was truly one of the last few old time saints. She was preceded in death by her parents, Hugh and Evelyn Yount; and husbands, Ollin Maxey and Lowell Rhea. She is survived by her children, Janie Maxey (Frankie Cox), and Jill (Bob) McCoy; she was the best Granna to her granddaughters, Lauren (Clint) Hurd, Meredith (Stephen) Bruce, and Sarah Grace McCoy; the apple of her eye, her great-grandson, Asher Cole Hurd; she also leaves behind someone she loved like a son, Jessee Gilliam; best friend and sister, the Thelma to her Louise, Marjorie Johnson; her never failing brothers, Mayford (Mavis) Yount and Rodney (Tammy) Yount; brother-in-law, Earl (Lois) Maxey; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 p.m. Thursday, April 12 at Westside Chapel Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 8 p.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Tommy Seals and Rev. J.R. South officiating. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, April 13 at Hamblen Memory Gardens. Arrangements by Westside Chapel Funeral Home in Morristown.
