Eugene Wright Greene

Eugene Wright Greene, age 89, born July 6, 1926 in Hancock County, passed away Wednesday, May 25, 2016 at his home surrounded by his family and friends. He was a member of Northside Missionary Baptist Church. When Wright was eighteen years old, he volunteered for the U.S. Army. He was enrolled in the 9th Regiment of the Second Infantry Division and was taken to the front lines under the leadership of General George Patton. After returning home he married and had four sons. He worked for American Enka for 39 years before he retired.

Wright is preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Veda B. Roberts; parents, Clay and Mabel Greene; brothers Randell (Marjorie), Byron, and Jerry Greene, sister, Anna Lee Greene; brother in law, Otis Jones; also, several nieces and nephews.

Wright is survived by his children, Adren (Pam) Greene of Morristown, Arles (Debbie) Greene of Goodlettsville, Philip (Kathy) Greene of Morristown, and Shannon (Janice) Greene of Morristown; brothers and sisters, Kenneth (Zelma) Greene of Morristown, Niota (Frank) Collins of Chattanooga , Carlin (Arkie) Greene of Sneedville, Luke (Josephine) Greene of Kodak, Clay (Marta) Greene of Kodak, Vonda Jones of Morristown, and Terry ( Kay) Greene of Sneedville; sister in law, Beulah Greene of Sneedville; Grandchildren, Chris Greene, Scotty(Jennifer) Greene, Todd ( Jennifer) Greene, Kandenna Greene, Wesley (Elizabeth) Greene, April (Sam) Rosenbalm, Shelley Greene, Chasa ( Aaron) Alder, Erica (Justin ) Ensey, Evan Greene, and Katerina Greene; He was also survived by 25 great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews, and a special friend, June Seal. A special thank you to the most dedicated and compassionate caregivers, Patsy Johnson, Betty Jones, and Monica Jones. The family will receive friends from 12 – 2 p.m. Sunday, May 29 at Westside Chapel Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 2 p.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Aaron Alder and Rev. Barry Warren officiating. Interment will follow at Hamblen Memory Gardens with military honors. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations to Northside Missionary Baptist Church, 1450 N. Easley Court, Morristown, TN 37814. Arrangements by Westside Chapel Funeral Home in Morristown.
