James D. “Jim” Smith, age 76, of Talbott, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, June 27, 2016 at his residence with his family by his side. He was a member of Pleasant View Baptist Church and was a retired Insurance Broker. He loved all sports and was especially a huge Tennessee Vol fan. He coached little league and was instrumental in getting Frank Lorino Park started along with several others. He was preceded in death by his parents, Woodrow and Hulda Smith; and sister, Delores Wolfe. He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Anita Smith; son, Gary Smith; daughter, Darla Beard of Dandridge; grandchildren, Meghan and Dylan Beard and MacKinzie, Kaleb (Amanda), and Trey Smith; great-grandchildren, Siara Warren, Brayden Warren, and Faythe Warren; brother-in-law, Charles D. (Carolyn) Vaughn and family; friend, Kathy Letterman; and several nieces and nephews and many friends. Special thanks to Avalon Hospice and East Tennessee Cancer Specialist. The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 29 at Westside Chapel Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 8 p.m. at the funeral home with Dr. Larry Parrott officiating. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 30 at Hamblen Memory Gardens.
