Lucille Virginia Goodman Reed, age 92, born on June 21, 1924 in Hancock County, TN, departed this life peacefully on Wednesday, April 26, 2017, after a brief illness.  Mrs. Reed was preceded in death by her husband, Paul H. Reed; her son, Dr. Paul E. Reed; her parents, C.E. and Martha Baker Goodman; and her brothers, Clarence “Emory”, William “Bill,” and Dr. George Goodman.  Mrs. Reed is survived by her daughter, Judy (Elois) Grooms, of Bossier City, LA; sister, Inez (John) McBee, of Kingsport, TN; daughter-in-law, Paulette Graham Reed of Crossville, TN; grandchildren, Stephanie (Rhett) Traband of Miami Shores, FL, Heather Reed of Memphis, TN, Dr. Virginia “Ginna” (Nate) Killoren of Charlotte, NC, Paula (Chris) Masters of Johnson City, TN, Alison (Josue) Ferrero of Bossier City, LA, Dr. Paul (Dr. Kristin) Reed, Jr. of Columbia, SC, and Meredith Grooms of Los Angeles, CA; great-grandchildren, Logan and Michael Traband, Liam and Quinn Killoren, and Ayla and Aria Masters; sisters-in-law, Vivian, Mary Jane, and Carolyn Goodman; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and so many friends.  Mrs. Reed graduated from Hancock County High School in 1941 and earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Education from East Tennessee State University.  She married her high school sweetheart, Paul H. Reed, a World War II veteran, in 1947.  Mrs. Reed worked in public education for 39 years as a teacher, supervisor of instruction, supervisor of special programs, and as the first female Superintendent of Schools in Hancock County, TN.  She was an active member of Sneedville First Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School and served on many committees.  She was active in the Hancock County Retired Teachers' Association, Sneedville Women's Club, Production Credit Association, and a leader in the Democratic Party in Hancock County.  Mrs. Reed moved to Regency Retirement Village in Morristown, TN in 2008 to recover from a fall and decided to make it her home.  There she served on the Residents’ Council, Regency Church Committee, led a weekly Bible study, and enjoyed special events and outings.  The family extends special thanks to the staff and residents of Regency Retirement Village for taking such good care of her and showing her so much love.  The family will receive friends on Saturday, April 29, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Westside Chapel Funeral Home in Morristown, TN, followed by a Celebration of Life Memorial Service at 1 p.m. at Westside Chapel led by Pastor Fred Lehrer of Regency Retirement Community Church.  Interment services will follow at Jarnagin's Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in her memory to Sneedville First Baptist Church; to Serving in Mission (https://www.simusa.org/get-involved/give/?DSG=missionary&FNme=ginna&LNme=killoren&FundIDM=&searchme=searchM&SearchName=&FundIDP=&CountryID=); or to the Cerebral Palsy Foundation
