Mildred Oaks Barringer, of Morristown, went to be with her Lord on Sunday, April 23, 2017. She was born in Balkin, Kentucky on Sunday, April 12, 1914. She was 103 years old. She was the daughter of Evan and Lillian Nicholson and the wife of William Bryant Oaks of Corbin, Kentucky. She is survived by her son, William Bryant Oaks of Seattle, WA; daughters, Janice Mims of Cherry Log, GA and Carolyn Winstead of Morristown; She is also survived by eleven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren. She had served as secretary to Dr. L.C. Kelly, President of Clear Creek Mountain Preachers Bible School near Pineville, KY. She also has served as Minister of Education at Waverly PI Baptist Church in Roanoke, VA, First Baptist Church in Morristown, TN, Ivy Memorial Baptist Church in Newport News, VA, and First Baptist Church in Hendersonville, NC. She also served as Preschool Director for the Sunday School Department of the Tennessee Baptist Convention. In retirement, she was a realtor in Hendersonville, NC and was elected a commissioner of Henderson County and served 10 years and the last four as chairman. A memorial service and burial will be held in Corbin, Kentucky on Sunday, May 14, 2017.  Arrangements by Westside Chapel Funeral Home in Morristown.
