Opal L. Standifer, age 79, of Morristown, went to be with the Lord on Friday, July 15, 2016 at Heritage Center. She was a member of Cherokee Heights Baptist Church and was saved at an early age at Brewer’s Chapel Church in Hancock County. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother and will be greatly missed. She was preceded in death by her parents, Garrett and Lena Burke; son, Richard Standifer; brother, Kyle Perry; and sister, Helen Burke. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Dewey Standifer; son, Donnie (Frances) Standifer; grandchildren, Garrett Standifer and Josh (Theresa) Standifer; great-grandchildren, Dawson, Makayla, Rilee, Melody, and Ella Standifer, Triston Johnson, and Jim Smith; brother, Faye (Shelby) Burke; sisters, Lorene Brooks, Marie (Ralph) Davis, and Dorothy (Kermit) Seals; and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 5 – 8 p.m. Sunday, July 17 at Westside Chapel Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 8 p.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Justin Self and Rev. Sonny Davis officiating. Family and friends will meet at 10 a.m. Monday, July 18 at Bethesda Cemetery for graveside services. Arrangements by Westside Chapel Funeral Home in Morristown.
