Sally Barry Carter, age 87, of Morristown, passed away Monday, September 19, 2016 at her residence. She was a native of Texas and grew up in Houston, TX. For many years she lived in Washington, D.C. and later, in 1985, she and her husband, daughter, and son-in-law moved to Morristown. She had been retired for a number of years and her previous occupations included Systems & Procedures Analyst with Transcontinental Gas Pipe Line Corp. in Houston, TX, Managing Editor for the American Aircraft Modeler Magazine in Washington, D.C., and Assistant Director, Continuing Education with Strayer Business College in Washington, D.C. She loved writing and wrote a historical novel entitled “The Candy Wagon,” which was published in 1980. Sally has been active in a public speaking club and she loved music and attended the Chamber Music Society concerts in Morristown. She was a member of All Saints Episcopal Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, William C. Carter; and parents, Alfred P. and Rosa Schwartz Barry. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Starr and Richard Blevins; and two nieces and two nephews in Texas. Special thanks to Avalon Hospice and the Senior Citizens Home Assistance Service, Inc. for their loving care. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. – 12 p.m. Thursday, September 22 at Westside Chapel Funeral Home. Graveside services will follow at Jefferson Memorial Gardens with Dr. Joe Hamlet officiating. Arrangements by Westside Chapel Funeral Home in Morristown.
