Shelby Jean Jones, 78, born February 5, 1939, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, November 29, 2017, peacefully at her home surrounded by family after an extended illness. She was preceded in death by her mother, Hettie Walton; brothers, Fred Walton and Hubert Walton; sister, Reba Matthews and brother-in-law, Charles Matthews, sister, Mildred Manning and brother-in-law, Elisha Manning, sister, Mary Hall, brother, Max Walton, brother, Edward Walton, brother-in-law E.J. Riley; and brother-in-law, Otis Jones. She is survived by her husband, Alfred Jones; son and daughter-in-law, Harold and Pam Jones; granddaughter, Alyssa Jones; sisters-in-law, Inez Walton and Sarah Jane Walton, sister-in-law Ruth Alder and brother-in-law Claude Alder, sister-in-law Imogene Riley, sister-in-law Betty Barnard and brother-in-law Fay Barnard, brother-in-law Sonny Jones and sister-in-law Janice Jones, brother-in-law Grover Jones and sister-in-law Ileta Jones, sister-in-law Vonda Jones, and brother-in-law Benny Jones and sister-in-law Linda Jones, and brother-in-law Bobby Joe Jones and sister-in-law Linda Jones and numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to express sincere thanks to Susie and Michelle with Avalon Hospice, Dr. Bonnie Vick, Dr. Ahmed, and Dr. Dobbs. The family will receive friends on Friday, December 1, 2017, at Holt’s Baptist Church from 5 – 7:30 p.m. Funeral services will follow at 7:30 p.m. with the Rev. Alan Lamb officiating.  Family and friends will meet for an 11 a.m. graveside service on Saturday, Dec. 2, 2017, in Hamblen Memory Gardens.
