Thomas “Leon” Rogers, age 91, of Morristown, passed away on Saturday, July 16, 2016 at Life Care Center. He was a member of Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church and retired from Magnavox after 35 years of service. He served in the United States Army during World War II and was a recipient of the Purple Heart after being wounded in battle. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse and Naomi Rogers; brothers, Homer, Paul, and James Rogers; sisters, Willie Mae (Doc) Smith, Ethel (Fain) Smith, and Frances (Walt) Hargis. He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Mary Rogers; daughters, Donna (George) Cochran, and Lonna (Keith) Rickard; sons, Tommy (Mari Lou) Rogers and Vince (Teresa) Rogers; grandchildren, Keilan Rickard, Abbi (Gene) Whaley, Zach (Stephanie) Cochran, Zarah (Tim) Bates, Marideth (Josh) Longmire, McKinley Rogers, Mattie (Cory) Hughes, Micah Rogers and Molly Rogers; also thirteen great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 6-8 Tuesday, July 19, 2016 at Westside Chapel Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 8 pm with Rev. Kenny Bolling officiating. Family and friends will meet for an 11 am graveside service on Wednesday, July 20th at Ebenezer Cemetery. Arrangements by Westside Chapel Funeral Home in Morristown.
