Walford “Art” Fugate, age 77, of Morristown, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, October 11, 2016 at his residence. He was saved at the early age of 12 at Stoney Gap Baptist Church and was a member of Enterprise Baptist Church. He was a hunter, a fisherman, a gatherer and a giver. He loved picking up and shelling pecans, making apple butter, and having fish frys. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Nina Fugate; infant brother, Chalmer; and sister, Elsa. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Katie Webb Fugate; sons, David (Gloria) Fugate, Steve (Becky) Fugate, and Kevin (Kim) Fugate; daughters, Melissa (Troy) Gibson and Jennifer (Mike) Caldwell; grandchildren, Cody Fugate, Megan Fugate, Grace Fugate, Abby Fugate, Sophie Fugate, Rachel Caldwell, Lance Fugate, Tyler Caldwell, and great-grandson, Easton Fugate; siblings, Joe Fugate, Naoma Campbell, Velma Trent, Marvie Watts, Wanda Mackey, Reba Frazier, and Wilma Wilder; and many nieces and nephews. He was blessed to have not only a loving family by his side, but also many caregivers that treated him like family, including, Debra Martin, Sara Neubert, Donna Carpenter, VA nurses, and U.T. Hospice nurse, Charles. The family will receive friends from 5 – 8 p.m. Friday, October 14 at Westside Chapel Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home with Rev. Harold Noe and Rev. James Ramsey officiating. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, October 15 at Big Hill Cemetery in Mooresburg Dr. Dale Carey officiating.
