William Edward “Ed” Maynard, age 65, of Mooresburg, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, December 17, 2017. He was a devoted family man and a member of Bean Station Church of God. He was a retired West Virginia coal miner, had formerly served on the Church of God Elders Board, a former Silver Beaver awarded Boy Scout Master, and a mentor and father-figure to many throughout the years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernie and Mabel Maynard of West Virginia. He is survived by his wife, Linda Maynard; daughters, Susan Maynard and LaShann (Jason) Messer; grandchildren, Jayla and Corbin Messer; and brother, Ernest Maynard. The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 p.m. Wednesday, December 20 at Westside Chapel Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, December 21 at Bean Station Church of God with Rev. Ernie Maynard and Rev. Jerry Walden officiating. The body will lie in state from 10 a.m. – 11 a.m. Thursday prior to the service at the church. Interment will follow at Bethesda Cemetery.  Arrangements by Westside Chapel Funeral Home in Morristown.
