Rev. William F. Wilkerson, age 83, went home to be with his Lord on Wednesday, March 13, 2024 in Hendersonville, North Carolina. He served our country in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany, Vietnam, and in the states. He was a highly decorated soldier, receiving a Bronze Star for bravery and a Purple Heart, along with several other awards. After his military service, he accepted the call to preach. He faithfully served the Lord for fifty years as pastor of several churches in Tennessee, Maryland, and Pennsylvania. He passionately shared the Word and ministered to others. William was preceded in death by his wife of sixty two years, Bonnie Seals Wilkerson; his beloved son, Jeffery Scott Wilkerson; parents, Ralph and Mary Wilkerson; and brother, Bob Wilkerson. He is survived by his daughters, Toya (Herb) Lusby, Mary Rhea, Debra (Gary) Long, and Hope (David) Dickerson; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brothers, Ralph Wilkerson and Dennis Wilkerson; and sisters, Lillian Hill and Donna Turner. The family would like to thank the staff of Charles George VA Medical Center and Four Seasons Hospice in North Carolina for the excellent care during his last few years. Also, special thanks to his nurses Georgianna and Beth. The family will receive friends from 6 – 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 19th at Westside Chapel Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 7 p.m. with Rev. David Dickerson officiating. Family and friends will meet at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 20th at Mary’s Chapel Cemetery in Bean Station for graveside services. Arrangements by Westside Chapel Funeral Home in Morristown.
