Bessie Hipsher Johnson, age 87, of Morristown, passed away Tuesday, August 28, 2018 at Jefferson Park Nursing Home in Dandridge surrounded by her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Wray Johnson. Bessie was a member of Beulah Baptist Church in Mohawk. She was church secretary for many years at Bethel Baptist Church. Before that calling, she was a homemaker who her daughters affectionately called a “household engineer.” She was a hard-worker who excelled at whatever she decided to do. The family rejoices that she is now celebrating her birthday (September 1) with a homecoming in Heaven with Jesus, her husband, dad, mom, and sister. Bessie is survived by her two daughters and their spouses, Diana and Charlie Seay and Tina and John Rogers; and two grandchildren, Derek Rogers and Kristen Rogers. The family would like to express their gratitude and love to the staff at Jefferson Park Nursing Home and Smoky Mountain Hospice. The family will receive friends from 6 – 7 p.m. Saturday, September 1 at Beulah Baptist Church, 9880 McDonald Road, Mohawk, TN. A memorial service will follow at 7 p.m. with Rev. John Rogers and Evangelist Jeff Harvel officiating. A private burial will be held at a later date with the family. Arrangements by Westside Chapel Funeral Home in Morristown.
