Brenda Lee Goerler, age, 76, of Morristown, passed away Saturday, May 25, 2019 at her residence after suffering a long illness with kidney disease for the past six years. She was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church where she volunteered every Monday until her illness began. Brenda lived in Alaska for 27 years, and loved to go camping and fishing with her family on weekends. She worked as a payroll specialist at Alaska USA Federal Credit Union. Brenda was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Goerler; daughter, Karen Goerler; parents, Orville and Grace Carlton; and sister, Saundra Abel. She is survived by her two daughters, Kelly (Richard) Gilchrist, and Valerie (Lee) Stone; grandchildren, Mark (Billy) Matthews, Ashlee Barnholdt, and Gabrielle Henriquez; great grandchild, Liam “Memaw’s Little Man” Headrick; sister, Judy Carlton (Frankie) Abel; brother, Donnie Carlton; brother-in-law, David Abel Sr.; nephews and nieces, David Abel, Jr., Kimberly Babb, Todd Abel, and Jason Carlton; and several great-nephews and great-nieces. Kelly and Valerie would like to say a special thank you to Aunt Judy and Uncle Frankie for going above and beyond in helping take care of our mom. We would also like to thank Heather and Mackenzie at Amedisys Hospice, Morristown EMS for their special care, and Lauren and staff at Fort Sanders Home Infusion. The family will receive friends from 5 – 7 pm Tuesday, June 4th at Westside Chapel Funeral Home. Services will follow at 7 pm Tuesday with Father Garrity officiating.
