SSG. Broderick Stewart “Brodie” “Kojak” Charles, age 62, of Rogersville, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 20, 2019 at the CLC of the James H. Quillen V.A. Medical Center in Johnson City. SSG. Charles served in the 991st transportation of the U.S. Army for thirty-five years and was a veteran of the Gulf War, Kuwait, and Operation Iraqi Freedom. He retired from Rockwell Automation (Dodge) after twenty-three years and LandAir Transportation of Greeneville after eighteen years. Broderick was preceded in death by his parents, Edward Charles, Sr. and Georgia Charles; brother, Roger Charles; and sister, Sheila Charles. He is survived by Earlleen Charles of Rogersville; children, Ridge Charles and Tanner Charles, both of Rogersville; brothers, Roy (Jackie) Charles and Edward, Jr. (Charlotte) Charles; and sister, Ruth (Ernest) Easterly. Family and friends will call from 1 – 2 p.m. Saturday, April 27th at Westside Chapel Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 2 p.m. with Rev. Woody Tackett and Rev. Bo Simpson officiating. Military graveside services will be at 10:45 a.m. Monday, April 29th at the Mountain Home National V.A. Cemetery in Johnson City. Arrangements by Westside Chapel Funeral Home in Morristown.
