Buster Purkey

Buster Purkey, age 90, of Mosheim, passed away Thursday, January 16, 2020 at Greeneville Community Hospital East. He was a member of New Freedom Baptist Church and was retired from Magnavox after thirty-six years. He was a loving father and grandfather and will be dearly missed. He was preceded in death by his wife, Flo Purkey; former wife, Martha Gothard; daughter, Denise Smith; great-granddaughter, Samantha Lamb; and several brothers and sisters. He is survived by his children, Shirley Cotter, Danny Purkey, Ronnie (Donna) Purkey, and Phyllis (Bobby) Collins; brothers, Tivis (Imogene) Purkey and Ervin (Frances) Purkey; seven grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 5 – 7 p.m. Monday, January 20th at Westside Chapel Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 7 p.m. with Rev. Brian Cottrell officiating. Family and friends will meet at 11 a.m. Tuesday, January 21st at Hamblen Memory Gardens for graveside services. Arrangements by Westside Chapel Funeral Home in Morristown.
