Carl "Sonny" "Lightning" Delmus McCoy, Jr.

Carl “Sonny” “Lightning” Delmus McCoy, Jr., age 76, of Morristown, passed away Thursday, October 17, 2019 at Morristown-Hamblen Healthcare System. He was a member of Parkway Baptist Church and was retired from ENKA. He was a loving father and papaw and will be deeply missed. He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara McCoy; parents, Carl Delmus McCoy, Sr. and Lucy Mae McCoy; and brother, John McCoy. He is survived by his daughters, Sharon (Andrew) Griffin and Regina (Greg) Byrd; grandchildren, Cassandra (Will) Jenkins, Connor Carpenter, Allison Schmidt, Brandon Byrd, and Kendra Byrd; great grandchildren, Anna and Katie Byrd; brothers, Ted McCoy, Ned McCoy, Larry McCoy, Jeff McCoy, Mark McCoy, and Michael McCoy; sisters, Judy Seals, Shelia Bales, Dorothy Bales, and Brenda Shepherd; also several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 2 - 3 p.m. Saturday, October 19th at Westside Chapel Funeral Home. A Memorial Service will follow at 3 p.m. with Rev. John Pinkston officiating.
