Donald E. Bentley, age 86, of Jefferson City, passed away Sunday, February 17, 2019 at Morristown-Hamblen Healthcare System. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy including four years of service during the Korean Conflict, participating in six major battles and ending with an honorable discharge, a good conduct medal, and several campaign ribbons. Along with many others, he participated in a successful effort to secure an equestrian center in Morristown, now known as the Holt-Bentley horse show arena at Frank Lorino Park. He spent twenty-six years being involved with the creation and successful operation of the Girls Inc. Horse Show where several thousands of dollars were raised. He was preceded in death by his wife of thirty-seven years, Patricia Bentley; and parents, William Taft “W.T.” and Gertrude Ethel Bentley. He is survived by his brother, George (Dorothy) Bentley of Kingsport; nieces, Amy (Terry) Livesay and Angela Bentley; nephew, Terry Bentley; great nieces and great nephews, Christopher, Matt, Brittany, Morgan, Baylor, Charlie, Hadley, and Bentlee; and special friend, Diane Hughes. The family will receive friends from 5 – 7 p.m. Monday, February 25th at Westside Chapel Funeral Home. Family and friends will meet at 2 p.m. Tuesday, February 26th at West View Cemetery in Jefferson City for military graveside services. Arrangements by Westside Chapel Funeral Home in Morristown.
