Elwin "Nick" Nichols Obituary

Elwin “Nick” Nichols, age 89, of White Pine, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, October 5, 2019 in Morristown. He was born on July 21, 1930 in Erie, PA and grew up in Warren, PA. He served twenty-two years in the United States Military beginning in the Army National Guard followed by four years in the Marine Corps and then retiring from the Air Force. He lived in Kokomo, IN for twenty-seven years where he raised his family and pastored three churches. He is survived by his beautiful bride of sixty-six years, Marie Irons Nichols, who was his best friend and the love of his life. Together, they have three children, James Nichols of Indianapolis, IN, Mark (Tammie) Nichols of Kokomo, IN, and Janette (James) Peeples of White Pine. He had five grandchildren, Amber (Heath) Gibson, Marie (Marty) Nicely, Holly (Mike) Mehling, Darrick Banks, and Jamie Nichols. He was affectionately known as Papaw Bang to ten great-grandchildren. He is also survived by two sisters, Laura Greenwald of Las Vegas, NV and Sabra Ristau of Warren, PA; and brother, Calvin Nichols of Lakeland, FL. He was much loved by several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Elwin Nichols; mother, Edith Dahl; brother, Marshall “Butch” Dahl; and sister, Marcia Eckman. He was a member of Buffalo Trail Baptist Church. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, October 10th at Buffalo Trail Baptist Church with Dr. Keith Mowery officiating. Arrangements by Westside Chapel Funeral Home in Morristown.
