Gene Long Obituary

Gene Long, age 77, of Morristown, passed away Saturday, September 29, 2018 at Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center in Knoxville. He was a member of Cedar Flat Missionary Baptist Church. Gene was employed by Roy Widener Motor Lines and Berkline in Morristown. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dea and Grace Long of Morristown; brothers, Estel and Roger Long; and sisters, Florence Macintosh and Hazel Kanipe, all of Morristown. He is survived by his loving wife of fifty-seven years, Joyce Long; sons, Rick (Pam) Long, Tony (Leann) Long, and Scott (Yvonne) Long; grandchildren, Skylar (Paige) Long, Sydney (Blake) Phillips, Heather Long, Holly (James) Scarberry, Anna Long, Trenton (Jaclyn) Long, and Emmah Grace Long; great-grandchildren, Briella Long, Mia, and Kalyx Knight, Casey and Amiyah Phillips, and Jessa KarieAnn Long; brothers and sisters, Millard Long of Tazewell, Mary (Bobby) Holder, Irene Brooks, Shelia Massey, and Delta Jackson, all of Morristown; and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 p.m. Wednesday, October 3 at Westside Chapel Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 8 p.m. with Rev. Scott Helton and Rev. Allen Black officiating. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, October 4 at Hamblen Memory Gardens.  Arrangements by Westside Chapel Funeral Home in Morristown.
