George "Butch" E. Surface

George E. “Butch” Surface, age 71, of Morristown, passed away Monday, November 5, 2018 at his residence. He was a member of Cherokee Hills Baptist Church, a veteran of the U.S. Army, and was retired from Walters State Community College. He was preceded in death by his parents, George Herman and LaDonna Surface; and brothers-in-law, Ronnie Lawson and Lupe Flores. He is survived by his wife of forty-nine years, Jewel Surface; son, Gary (LeSue) Surface; daughter, Angie Surface and fiancé, D.J. Jenkinson of Knoxville; grandchildren, Allison (Michael) Harris, Sydney Surface, and Kinsleigh and Cayson Hite; brother, Bob (Shirley) Surface; sisters, Shirley Flores, Barbara (Reed) Brock, and Janet (Kevin) Life; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Donnie (Dolly) Lawson, Bonnie (Rick) Warren, Stanley (Marlene) Lawson, Brenda (Randall) Ridley, and Sandra Lawson; and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 5 – 7 p.m. Wednesday, November 7 at Westside Chapel Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 7 p.m. with Dr. Nathan Livingston officiating. Family and friends will meet at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, November 8 at East Tennessee State Veteran’s Cemetery in Knoxville for military graveside services.   Arrangements by Westside Chapel Funeral Home in Morristown.
