Isaac “Ike” A. Walker, age 83, of Morristown, passed away Thursday, January 3, 2019. He was a faithful member of Pleasant View Baptist Church where he served as an usher and loved his Sunday School Class. He was a sheet metal worker with Local 51 and the T.V.A. and was a founding member of the West Hamblen County Volunteer Fire Department serving as Captain. Ike also was a veteran of the U.S. Army entering in 1953 going from Knoxville on a bus to the Base in South Carolina, then to Fort Gordon Georgia, and later to Sault St. Marie, Michigan. He served in Korea and was with the 289th Military Police Company in Teague, Korea. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jonah H. and Ida Isabelle Walker; daughters, Carol Grove and Jody Sulfridge; sisters, Estelle Taylor, Mary Holloway, and Martha Walker; and brothers, James Edgar Walker, Clarence Walker, and Paul Walker. He is survived by his daughter, Alice Walker (Jonathan) Buchanan; grandchildren, Dana Holt, Layla Sulfridge; brothers, Johnny J. Walker, Robert (Georgia) Walker, and Earnest (Sandra) Walker; sister, Nona (Boyd) Chandler; and several nieces, nephews, and friends. The family will receive friends from 12 – 2 p.m. Tuesday, January 8 at Westside Chapel Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 2 p.m. with Rev. O’Dell Davidson and Dr. Larry Parrott officiating. Interment will follow at Hamblen Memory Gardens with military honors. In Lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to West Hamblen County Volunteer Fire Department. Arrangements by Westside Chapel Funeral Home in Morristown.
