Jack E. Gerwig, age 85, of Morristown, passed away Tuesday, July 23, 2019 at Serenity Hospice House in Morristown. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, a member of First Baptist Church of Morristown, and was a former deacon of churches in Florida. He loved singing, gardening, and traveling and served in the RVICS for four and a half years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Emory and Ersie Gerwig; and infant son, Jack Gerwig. He is survived by his wife of sixty-three years, Joan Gerwig; son, Michael (Karen) Gerwig of Prairie Grove, Arkansas; daughters, Stephanie (Dave) Hamill of Morristown and Lisa Gates of Mt. Vernon, WA; sister, Maxine Edwards of Lantana, FL; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Special thanks to the staff and volunteers at Serenity Hospice House and to Amedysis Hospice. The family will receive friends from 5 – 7 p.m. Friday, July 26th at Westside Chapel Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 7 p.m. with Rev. Danny Georges and Dr. Dean Haun officiating.
