John Robert “Bob” Morris, 86, passed away at his home, Sunday September 1, 2019. Bob was born in Exeter, Virginia on February 9, 1933. Preceded in death by his wife, Mary Helen, Bob was a man of strong faith and trust in God and was a member of Fernwood Baptist Church. Bob came from a large and loving family with three sisters, Theda, Sue, and Judy and three brothers, Bill, Jack, and J.E. He joined the United States Air Force in 1950, serving until 1953 and was always proud of his military service. He is survived by his daughter, Pamela Kay (Timothy) Kimbrough of Morristown; son, John Mark of Woodbridge, VA; close friend, Karen White of Morristown; grandsons, Jason (Kim) Kimbrough, Jarrod Kimbrough, and Hamilton Morris, all of Morristown.; two great-grandchildren, Austin (Taylor) Kimbrough and Abigail Kimbrough, all of Morristown; and numerous nieces and nephews from Oregon to Ohio to Virginia. Never one to meet a stranger, Bob thoroughly enjoyed his morning breakfasts at McDonald’s with many close friends and lots of ribbing and laughing. The family will receive friends from 4 – 7 p.m. Wednesday, September 4th at Westside Chapel Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 7p.m. with Rev. Sonny Davis, Rev. Rick Dinkins, and Rev. Odell Davidson officiating. Burial with military honors will be at 11a.m. Thursday, September 5th at Hamblen Memory Gardens with VFW Post 5266 officiating.
