Johnnie Brownlow Howerton, age 88, of Morristown, went to join his heavenly family on Sunday, May 6, 2018. He was a member of Central Baptist Church and a devoted member of the ROMEO Club for over twenty-five years. He was known by many local people for his daily walks at Fred Miller Park, Healthstar, the Mall, and west Morristown. He was retired from the Hamblen Farmer’s CO-OP. He was preceded in death by his wife, Leo Howerton; parents, Robert and Lily Howerton; great-granddaughter, Tori Howerton; and several brothers and sisters. He is survived by his son, Darrell Howerton of Talbott; daughter, Charlene Carter Lamb of Morristown; grandchildren, Kristen (Tim) Lyman, Holly Howerton, Zachary (Ashley) Carter, Jesse (Amy) Carter, Justin (Casey) Carter, John (Brandi) Lamb, Adam Lamb, and Breanna (Nick) Moore-Dearing; nine great-grandchildren and two on the way; brother, Junior Howerton of Tazewell; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.The family will receive friends from 5 – 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 9 at Westside Chapel Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 7 p.m. with Rev. Bryan Collins and Rev. Dennis Johnson officiating. Family and friends will meet at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 10 at Jefferson Memorial Gardens for graveside services with Rev. Shane Pierce officiating.
