Leo Robinson Obituary

Leo Shults Robinson, age 80, of Morristown, left this earth to meet his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, November 6, 2019 at Life Care Center of Morristown. He was preceded in death by his brother, Edwin Shults; mother, Ruby McCarter Shults; son, Christian Gordon Robinson; adopted father, Gordon Robinson; father, Carl Edwin Shults; adopted mother, Vaudie Lee Shults Robinson; and beloved sister, Ann Elizabeth “Dean” Shults Busbee. He is survived by his wife of sixty-one years, Dr. Barbara Smith Robinson; sister and brother-in-law, Reba and Reed Marton; son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Maurice and Jennifer “Jen” Robinson; daughter and son-in-law, Drs. Eustacia and Robert “Rob” Pratt; granddaughter and her husband, Ashley and Jason Coffey; granddaughter, Caitlyn Alexandria “Alex” Robinson; step-grandchildren, Morgan and Cydni Buchanan; beloved great-granddaughter, Annabelle Ruth Coffey; and a host of other family, including in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, former students, and friends. Leo was truly God’s gift to his family and friends. He was born in Cosby, Tennessee and accepted Christ as his Savior as a teenager. Throughout his life, he extended God’s unconditional love to everyone he met. He graduated from Cocke County High School and then earned his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from East Tennessee State University. He never met a stranger in his years of working as an insurance salesman for Horace Mann or in his thirty plus years of teaching and serving as principal in multiple schools in Norfolk, Virginia and East Tennessee. He was most know for teaching Drafting at Morristown East High School and pioneering in teaching in the field of Computer Automated Drafting at Carson Newman University, where he positively impacted the lives of literally thousands of students and teachers alike. Please join us in celebrating the life of Leo at Westside Chapel Funeral Home on Friday, November 8, 2019. Feel free to wear bright and happy colors to honor Leo’s bright and happy personality. The family will receive friends from 12 – 2 p.m. followed by the service at 2 p.m. with Rev. Garland James, Gene North, and Trevor Roberts officiating. Family and friends will meet at 9 a.m. Saturday, November 9th at Union Cemetery in Newport for graveside services. In lieu of flowers, donations in Leo’s memory should be sent to Community Fellowship in Christ Church. Arrangements by Westside Chapel Funeral Home in Morristown.
