Mack Lee Susong, age 78, of Morristown, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 20, 2018 at his residence. Mack was born on September 30, 1939 to the late Robert and Amy Katherine Susong. He worked on the family farm while in school. He was a 1957 graduate of Morristown High School where he played football and baseball. He later became a brick mason as most of his family was. He worked all over the United States doing masonry work until he began his career at Walters State Community College. Mack retired from the college in 2006 and continued to do masonry work for many years after he retired. In 2010, he was inducted into the Sports Hall of Fame for Morristown High School. Mack enjoyed watching football and baseball all of his life. In his free time, he enjoyed yard work, reading the paper, and spending time with his family. He was a member of Alpha Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary; former wife, Linda; brothers, Earl (Jean) Susong and Frank Susong; and sister, Ana Lou Satterfield. He is survived by his daughters, Amy (Ronnie) Lovell, Donna (Jeff) Burgin, and Pam (Tim) Yount; granddaughters, Stefanie (Brandon) Hall, Amanda “Mackinze” (Heath) Rigney, Lindsey Lovell, and Brittney (Dusty) Chapman; sisters, Ruby Shoun and Betty Jo (Curly) Nance; sister-in-law, Frances Susong; and several great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends. The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 22 at Westside Chapel Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 8 p.m. with Pastor Ben Shoun and Pastor Roger Rigney officiating. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 23 at Hamblen Memory Gardens. Arrangements by Westside Chapel Funeral Home in Morristown.
