Mary Otis Hazelwood, age 96, of Morristown, went to be with the Lord on Monday, December 18, 2017 at her residence. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church for many years and was formerly employed at the Union Heights Elementary School cafeteria for over forty years. She was a loving mother and grandmother who was known as “Nana” by many and she will be dearly missed. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Hazelwood, Sr.; parents, William and Odie Dickerson; and brother, Robert Cecil Dickerson. She is survived by her daughter, Shirley McReynolds; son, Ralph, Jr. “Brushi” (Brenda) Hazelwood; grandchildren, Kelley Tipton, Mark (Mary) Hazelwood, Amy Carter, and Richard Hazelwood; great-grandchildren, Ryan (Jessica) Phillips, Ashley Murphy, Haley Tipton, Jesse Tipton, Josh Hazelwood, Caroline Hazelwood, Kaylee Hazelwood, and Mary Faith Hazelwood; great-great grandchildren, Olivia Phillips, Dae’lyn Murphy, and Rocky Stokes; several nieces and nephews; and special friend, Marie Craine, who was an angel on earth in caring for her. Special thanks to Goldia Smith and Ashley Murphy and to Hospice nurses, Susie Linkous and Shannon Hefner for all their care. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. Saturday, December 23 at Bethel Baptist Church. Funeral services will follow at 12 p.m. Saturday at the church with Rev. James Williams and Rev. Scott Helton officiating. Interment will follow at Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Mark Hazelwood, Ryan Phillips, Jesse Tipton, Josh Hazelwood, Lester Gentry, Harold Turner, and Ricky Martin. Honorary pallbearers will be Jim Hipshire, Hughie Dickerson, Eddie Dickerson, Johnny Tipton, Richard Hazelwood, and David Hoppes.  Arrangements by Westside Chapel Funeral Home in Morristown.
