Rev. Charles Edward Smith

Rev. Charles Edward Smith, age 81, of Rutledge, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, November 6, 2018 at his residence. He was a Baptist Minister for thirty-two years and former Pastor of Washburn Baptist Church, Sunrise Baptist Church, Richland Baptist Church, Fernwood Baptist Church, Kidwell’s Ridge Baptist Church, and Westview Baptist Church. He was also a former employee of Westside Chapel Funeral Home after his retirement from the State Highway Department and was also a Mason. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Hazel Smith; son, Michael Charles Smith; and sister, Wanda Reed. He is survived by his wife, Joy Lee Smith; son, Richard “Rick” (DeeDee) Smith; daughter, Cynthia (Jim) West; grandchildren, Tanner (Kaylee) West and Chase West; sister, Maxine (Marvin) Singleton; niece, Angie Crabtree; nephews, Marty and Mike Singleton; and a host of other friends and relatives. The family will receive friends from 5 – 7 p.m. Thursday, November 8 at Westside Chapel Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 7 p.m. with Rev. Harold Noe and Rev. Tim Marlow officiating. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, November 9 at Jarnagin Cemetery. Arrangements by Westside Chapel Funeral Home in Morristown.
