Robert Richard Jackson, Sr., age 80, of Talbott, passed away Friday, May 4, 2018 at Jefferson County Nursing Home. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. While in the Navy, he and his family lived in such places as California, Hawaii, Key West, and Virginia, and settled in Gales Ferry, Connecticut. He worked at Groten Submarine base as a crane operator until he retired. After retirement, he moved to Jefferson City. He enjoyed camping, fishing, canoeing, hiking, biking, and working with his hands on cars and wood working. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hobart and Pricie Lucille Cross Jackson; first wife, Diana Walters Jackson; children, Deborah Jackson Bernard and Robert Jackson, Jr.; and siblings, Nina “Toots” Thomas, George Jackson, and Patricia Jackson. He is survived by his wife, Shirley Sue Jackson; children, James Jackson, Paul (Rhonda) Jackson, Clodie (Steve) Hinton, Lydia Circello, and Mary (Ferlin) Dobson; daughter-in-law, Pamela Jackson; "Papas girl Susan Jackson Kiddy" and 14 other precious grand children and 6 precious great-grandchildren; brothers, John Jackson and Roger Dean Jackson; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. The family will receive friends from 5 – 7 p.m. Thursday, May10 at Westside Chapel Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 7 p.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Mark Campbell officiating. Family and friends will meet at 11 a.m. Friday, May 11 at Jefferson Memorial Gardens for military graveside services. Arrangements by Westside Chapel Funeral Home in Morristown.
