Sue Carroll (Spoon) McDaniel, age 85, of Talbott, passed away Monday, August 27, 2018 at Morristown-Hamblen Healthcare System. Sue was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and dedicated follower of Jesus Christ. She was a member of White Oak Grove Baptist Church of Morristown for over sixty years and dearly loved the church and its members. She enjoyed fellowship with her church family. In her younger years, Sue sang in many gospel groups, sharing her faith through music. Sue also taught the Shining Light Sunday School class for numerous years. She enjoyed caring and providing for her family as a homemaker but went back to work as a sales clerk at Sky City to help pay for her son’s college education. She also loved taking day trips and drives with her husband and went on many fishing and hunting trips with him throughout their marriage. Sue was the daughter of the late Cassell Edward and Della Mae Spoon. She was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-nine years, Elmer McDaniel, Jr.; and her brother, Rev. Frank Roger Spoon. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Frank David and Donna McDaniel of New Market; and her granddaughter and her husband, Logan and Tyler Engle of Erwin. Also, she is survived by her aunt, Willa Bea Gilliam of Morristown; and many loving brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, and special neighbors. She greatly appreciated and loved her caretaker of many years, June Bolden. The family will receive friends from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. Thursday, August 30 at Westside Chapel Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 7:30 p.m. with the Rev. Ed Talley and Jason Lemka officiating. Family and friends will meet at 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 31 at Jarnagin Cemetery for graveside services.
