Vernice E. Crittenden, age 75, of Morristown, passed away Saturday, April 28, 2018 at Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center in Knoxville after suffering a brief illness. She was a member of Alpha Baptist Church for fifty-two years and the Grace Sunday School Class. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and sister and will be dearly missed. She was preceded in death by her husband, James J. Crittenden; parents, Everett Ray and Margaret Beets; and brother, Skippy Beets. She is survived by her daughters, Dee Dee (Gary)Whitaker. Debbie Vandergriff, and Deana Linkous; grandchildren, Casey (Lynn) Bales, Catie (Corey) Shaw, Stevee Vandergriff, Clark Vandergriff (Rachel Leonard), Corey Vandergriff, and Emily (Jay) Conkin; great-grandchildren, Hunter Bales, Spenser Shaw, and Rylee Jayne Conkin; sister, Peggy Cross; several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 5 – 7 p.m. Monday, April 30 at Westside Chapel Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 7 p.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Ben Shoun officiating. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 1 at Hamblen Memory Gardens. Arrangements by Westside Chapel Funeral Home in Morristown.
