Detective SGT. Alfonso “Al” Raul Herrera, age 56, of Morristown, passed away Wednesday, March 25, 2020 at Parkwest Medical Center in Knoxville. He was a loving husband, father, and Papaw and will be dearly missed. Al was a Sgt. Detective with the Morristown Police Department and served the citizens of Morristown for more that twenty-four years. He was a Patrol Officer, Special Response Team Operator, Narcotics Agent, general assignment Investigator, and Investigations Supervisor. He received several commendations throughout his career that included recognition from the FBI for his work during the large scale narcotic investigation, being cited as “critical” to the operations success. He was preceded in death by his father, Raul Herrera. He is survived by his wife, Robin Griffen Herrera; daughter, Lydia (Chris) Garnsey; step-son, Trevor (Delisa) Webb; step-daughter, Talia Brady; mother, Blanca Barron Herrera; grandchildren, Ryan Garnsey and Raelynn, Remington, and Cedar Webb; brothers, Raul Herrera and Josh (Yudy) Herrera; sisters, Edith (Vince) Hayes and Alejandra (Rodney) Mack; father-in-law, Jerry Griffen; mother-in-law, Sandy Bullen; special cousin, David; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements by Westside Chapel Funeral Home in Morristown.
