Billy Joe "Moose" Mitchell

Billy Joe “Moose” Mitchell, age 78, of Morristown, passed away Monday, November 16, 2020 at his residence. He attended Faith Home Mission, was retired from Foamex, and was associated with the Hamblen County Car Club. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather and was well respected by all who knew him. He will be dearly missed. He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Ester Mitchell; brother, Johnny and Benny; his precious grandmother, Lide; and great-grandson, Derek Bass. He is survived by his wife of fifty-five years, Virginia Mitchell; children, Kim (Danny) Bass, Kevin (Rachel) Mitchell, Anne (Lynn) Smith, and Billy Mitchell, Jr.; grandchildren, Brandi Young, Joshua (Brittany) Bass, Danielle Mitchell, Andrew (Katie) Smith, and Anthony (Hannah) Smith; great-grandchildren, Malachi Young, Seth Bass, Mariah Young, and Saleen Bass; brothers, Randy Mitchell and Charles Mitchell; sisters, Mary Taylor and Patricia (Hugh) Jinks; and special friends, Dwayne Cole, Blake Foshie, Johnny Denton, and all his friends at the Car Club. Special thanks to Amedysis Hospice. The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 p.m. Wednesday, November 18th at Westside Chapel Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 8 p.m. with Rev. Garland Long and Dwayne Cole officiating. Family and friends will meet at 2 p.m. Thursday, November 19th at Jarnagin Cemetery for graveside services.
