Billy Frank “Bill” Shockley, U.S. Navy retired, age 91, of Knoxville, formerly of Talbott, passed away peacefully, surrounded by loved ones, on Saturday, May 20, 2023 at Methodist Medical Center in Oak Ridge. He was a long-time member and deacon of Magna View Baptist Church in Talbott. Bill served in the United States Navy from 1950-1970, making a World Cruise aboard the U.S.S. Enterprise and also served aboard the U.S.S. Forrestal. Upon completion of his military career, Bill returned to his hometown of Morristown, TN where he worked several years at Jeffrey Chain Corporation, then later retiring from the Department of Energy Y-12, Oak Ridge. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lon and Aurilla Shockley; brothers, Edward Shockley and David Shockley; and sisters, Delores Smith and Helen Seal Spoon. He is survived by his wife of sixty-four years, Sylvia Jean Shockley; son, Randall (Angela) Shockley; daughter, Karen (Mike) Hicks; grandsons, Wesley Hicks and Wyatt Gadd, all of Knoxville; brother, Frank Shockley of Morristown; along with several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 5 – 7 p.m. Thursday, May 25th at Westside Chapel Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Family and friends will meet at 11 a.m. Friday, May 26th at Jefferson Memorial Gardens for graveside services with military honors.
