Brenda Weddington Obituary

Brenda Weddington, age 74, of Morristown, beloved wife, mother, nana, and friend, entered her heavenly home peacefully on Monday, May 22, 2023 at Serenity Hospice House surrounded by her family. Brenda was born in Logan, West Virginia where she graduated high school and met her husband, Mike Weddington. Soon after, they moved to Williamson, WV where they raised their three children, Kim, Jennifer, and Josh. Brenda exuded an abundant source of energy that poured into raising her children and grandchildren, her careers, including paralegal for fourteen years, card-shop owner, and insurance sales. She found her passion in Real Estate and opened her own company, Weddington Realty, while completing her BA degree at Marshall University. She always recognized the importance of education and encouraged her three children to get college degrees. She retired from Re-Max Real Estate in Morristown in 2017. Her passion for Real Estate proved to be her most rewarding career. She loved her clients and she loved to help them find the right home and gave good council to younger couples on the affordability of properties. She enjoyed every aspect with the highest regards for her Real Estate family of Agents, loan officers, title companies, etc. She was baptized at the First Baptist Church of Williamson, WV and a devoted member of Manley Baptist Church where she loved working in various positions in the church and serving food on Wednesday nights and taking meals to shut-in people. She was also the sweetest greeter and continued her duties throughout the COVID pandemic. She truly believed that giving was gaining and truly cared about people’s souls. During her last year, she pondered what more she could do so that more people would come to know Jesus. She loved the Lord fiercely taking her mission seriously to make sure she would see all her family, friends, and community in Heaven. She was preceded in death by her parents, James Orville Tomblin and Freda Frye Tomblin of Logan, WV. She is survived by her beloved husband of fifty-four years, Michael Weddington; daughters, Kimberly (Billy) Smith of Newton, NC and Jennifer (Scott) Holtmann of Morristown; son, Joshua (Jodi) Weddington of Morristown; grandchildren, Kayla (Chris) Goodman of Kingsport, Savannah (Derek) Collier of Tallahassee, FL, Sophie Smith of Newton, NC,  and Carter Holtmann, Corey Holtmann, Delaney Weddington, and Brogan Weddington, all of Morristown; great-grandchildren, Maylee, Emerson, Collins, and Ollie; brother, Curtis (Kathy) Tomblin of Logan, WV;  and sister, Stephanie Browning of Logan, WV. The family expresses special thanks to all who visited, prayed, brought meals, especially her dearest friends, Carolanne Henley and Traci Miller. Also, special thanks to our dear family friend, Wendy Olds as well as to Holly’s Helping Hands caregivers, Valerie, Dawn, and Haley. Thank God for Serenity House director, Stephanie Hamill and their loving caregivers. The family will receive friends from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. Friday, May 26th at Manley Baptist Church. Funeral services will follow at 7:30 p.m. with Rev. Alan Duncan and Rev. Tony Buchanan officiating. Family and friends will meet at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 27th at Jefferson Memorial Gardens for graveside services.
