Bruce Wayne Carpenter

Bruce Wayne Carpenter, age 69, passed away peacefully at his home in Russellville on Monday, May 6, 2024 surrounded by his loved ones. He was saved at an early age and joined Power House Baptist Church where he remained a member throughout his life. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He was known as the long-haul truck driver in Tennessee and Georgia, as well as owned and managed several restaurants in Cumming, GA and one in Bean Station. He was preceded in death by his parents, Roosevelt and Freda (Coffey) Carpenter; brothers, Fred, Buster, Reford, Homer, Louis, Idol, and Bill; sisters, Bonnie Coffey, Sue Seals, and Ruby Nicely; and father-in-law, Rev. J.C. Seals. He is survived by his wife and the love of his life, Katherine Carpenter; daughters and sons-in-law, Tonya (Kevin) Polidoro of Talbott, Samantha (Brandon) James of Florida, and Amanda (Logan) Lohrman of Greeneville; he was blessed with eight grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren; sisters, Shirley (Terry) Brooks, Stella Seals, Maxine Hodge, and Geneva (Eddie) Bunch, all of Morristown; brothers, Larry Carpenter of Whitesburg and Claude Carpenter of Bean Station; mother-in-law, AnnaRay Seals of Rogersville; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. The family would like to thank Home Instead caregivers, Kendall Deering and Ryan Oliver for the care they gave him in the past months, to Caris Hospice of Morristown nurses and bath girl, Deanna, for the care and respect they showed him, but most of all to his sister-in-law, Becky Seals Lee for the love and care she showed him preparing his meals and helping any way she could. The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 8th at Westside Chapel Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 8 p.m. with Rev. Donnie Myers and Rev. Truman Coffey officiating. Family and friends will meet at 1 p.m. Thursday, May 9th at Carpenters Cemetery in Sneedville for military graveside services.  Arrangements by Westside Chapel Funeral Home in Morristown.
