Carolyn Ann (Bell) Burnett

Carolyn Ann Bell Burnett, age 93, of Morristown, passed away Thursday, August 7, 2025 at TerraBella Assisted Living. She was a life-long member of Economy Church where she sang in the choir, played piano, and was a long-time member of the UMW. She graduated from Morristown High School and East Tennessee State University. She retired from Walters State Community College at age 82 where she was the testing coordinator, giving the GED to many in the local community. She was preceded in death by her parents, Will and Ruth Bell; beloved sisters, Katherine Austin and Mary Margaret “Mellie” Burnett; brothers, Dean, James, and W.P. Bell; and nephew, Tim Bell. She is survived by her daughters, Karen (Joe) Gibson and Beth (Rick) Rouse; son, David (Elizabeth) Burnett; grandchildren, Jason (Allison) Buel, Sarah (Dillon) Lynch, Erica, Kristen, and John Burnett, Sam (Caitlyn) Norton, and Emily Rouse; great-grandchildren, Aubrey and Jackson Buel, Camden and Arlo Lynch, Keelyn Burnett, and Emory Norton; special niece and nephews, Jennie Ruth (David) Watkins, Mark (Cindy) Burnett, Jim (Lois) Bell, Mike (Robin) Bell, John (Carole) Austin, Phil (Karla) Austin, and Marlon (Beth) Bell; and a host of great nieces and nephews. Special thanks to the staff of TerraBella, Smoky Mountain Hospice, Dr. Gupta and staff, and Carolyn Ramsey. The family will receive friends from 2 – 3 p.m. Saturday, August 16th at Economy Church. Interment will follow at 3 p.m. at Economy Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations to be made to Economy Church or a charity of your choice.
