Carolyn Jean (Hazelwood) McCarter

Carolyn Jean McCarter, age 70, of Morristown, passed from this life to her Heavenly home on Sunday, February 1, 2026. Carolyn was born on February 22, 1955, to Ivan and Billie Jo Hazelwood. Carolyn was a loving wife to her husband and a devoted mother to her son and daughter. Her life was centered on her family, and she showed her love through constant care, patience, and presence. Carolyn was deeply involved in the lives of those she loved, offering support, encouragement, and stability in both ordinary moments and difficult times. She gave of herself quietly and completely, and the strength of her devotion shaped the lives of those closest to her. Her love will continue to be felt by her family in the years to come. She was also a woman of faith who had accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior, and her faith provided strength and guidance throughout her life. Carolyn is survived by her husband of 33 years, JB McCarter; son and daughter-in-law, David and Haley Slagle; daughter and son-in-law, Desirea and Richie Rader; son and daughter-in-law, Brian and Terri McCarter; sister-in-law, Christie Hazelwood; grandchildren, Chloe Slagle, David William Slagle, Zane Rader, Cade Rader, Forrest Slagle, and Kody McCarter. Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, Ivan and Billie Jo Hazelwood; grandparents, Ervin and Lena Hazelwood and James and Dussie Ailshie; brother, Rev. Christopher Vance Hazelwood; and brother, Scott Ailshie. The family will receive friends from 5 - 7 p.m. Thursday, February 5th at Liberty Baptist Church. Funeral services will follow at 7 p.m. with Rev. Harvey Snyder officiating. Family and friends will meet at 11 a.m. Friday, February 6th at Resthaven Memorial Gardens for graveside services.
