Carson Cawood Needham

Carson “Cawood” Needham, 86, of Morristown, TN. passed away at home Sunday, January 19, 2025. He was known as “Cawood” by his siblings, and was born April 25, 1938 in New Tazewell, TN.  He moved to Monroe, MI. with his family in 1950, and enlisted in the U.S. Army and served for several years. He began employment with General Motors in August of 1960 and retired July 1994 from the Chevrolet Motor Division Plant in Toledo, OH. Carson married his wife Betty Sue Friddle in September 1968. He and his wife moved to Morristown, TN. in 1994. They loved to travel and hike every chance they got. He loved cars, trading and buying them every couple of years. He enjoyed tilling the garden and mowing the lawn with his tractor as well as apple picking in his backyard. He and his brother would drive every Friday across the mountain to visit their old home place for 20 years. They loved listening to his granddaughter sing “Amazing Grace” every trip she was with them. He is known as a man of Christ and his favorite saying being “Christ died for me.” He has been affiliated with Radio Mission Ministries, First Baptist Church of Algiers (Louisiana) since 1968. He was preceded in death by Parents, Lon and Ethel Needham; Brothers: Wayne, Donald, George, Howard, and Ray Needham and Sisters: Margaret Needham and Fern Singleton. He is survived by Wife Betty S. Needham; Daughter: Rebecca L. (Rick) Potter; Son: Jimmy C. Needham; Brother: Glenn “Fay” (Brenda) Needham; Sisters: Dorothy Keck and Pat (John) Brown; Grandchildren: Brandy J. (Cody) McCarter and Jimmy C. (Jennifer) Needham Jr.; Great Grandchildren: Carson A. McCarter and Collins R. McCarter. Thank you to Smokey Mountain Hospice for the amazing care he has received. The family will receive friends from 5-7 pm Thursday, January 23rd  at the funeral home. Funeral services will follow at 7 pm Thursday with Robert Pendarvis officiating. Family and friends will meet for an 11 am graveside on Friday, January 24th at Burch Cemetery in New Tazewell. Arrangements by Westside Chapel Funeral Home in Morristown.
