Christina Lynne Purkey: With heavy hearts and unwavering faith, we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, Christina Lynne Purkey, who went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 22, 2026, surrounded by love. After a very brief and courageous battle with cancer, she gained her ultimate healing and eternal peace. She was the heart of our family, a woman whose love was unconditional. Her presence brought comfort, laughter, and strength to everyone who knew her. She had a way of making people feel seen and cared for, and her home and heart were always open. Above all else, she loved her family. Being a mother and grandmother was her greatest joy, and her legacy lives on through the lives she nurtured, the faith she instilled, and the love she so freely gave. Her strength, kindness, and unwavering trust in God will continue to guide us in the days ahead. Though our hearts are broken, we find peace in knowing she is no longer suffering and is now rejoicing in Heaven, reunited with loved ones who went before her. As Scripture reminds us, “To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.” Her race is finished, her victory won — she was a winner either way. She is lovingly survived by her husband, Ronnie; her daughters, Toni (Sena), Ashley (Chuckie), Darinda (Stacey), and Jennifer (Jason); her son, Todd (Ginger); her son-in law, Hosea; her brothers, Ray, Larry (Ina), and Ronnie; and her sister, Connie (Ronnie). She also leaves behind eleven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, her dear best friend, Carla, her special fur babies—Willow, Sissy, Mollie, and Wednesday—and several beloved nieces and nephews, all of whom will forever cherish the memories made and the love they shared with her. She was preceded in death by her mother, Etta Mae; her father, Alec; her stepfather, Bob; her sister, Gloria; her brothers, Norbert and Russell; and her very special niece, Becky. The family will receive friends from 5 - 7 p.m. Wednesday, February 4th at First Independent Freewill Baptist Church of Bean Station. Funeral services will follow at 7 p.m. with Rev. Boyd Myers and Rev. Gary Baxley officiating. Family and friends will meet at 2 p.m. Thursday, February 5th at the church cemetery for graveside services. Though we must say goodbye for now, we rejoice in the promise that this is not the end — it is only until we meet again. Arrangements by Westside Chapel Funeral Home in Morristown.
