Damon Wayne Billings, age 54, of Russellville, TN went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, September 4, 2025 in Nashville, TN. He was surrounded by love with his family and lifelong friends by his side. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Victoria Grace Billings; father, Virgil Fay Billings, Sr; mother-in-law, Sherry Baggett; paternal grandparents, Melvin and Grace Billings; and maternal grandparents; Judson and Iona Sanders. Damon is survived by his loving wife, Shellie Baggett Billings, who walked beside him through life for over 30 meaningful years; daughter, Taylor Elizabeth Billings; son, Caleb Tyler Billings of Morristown, TN; mother, Donna Sanders Billings of Ridge Spring, SC; brothers, Virgil Billings, Jr. (Terri) of Winter Spring, FL and Lee Billings (Diana) of Clarksville, TN; sisters-in-law, Misty Gould (Thomas) and Michelle Conwell (James); as well as so many nieces and nephews. Damon was born in Fort Knox, KY and after graduating high school in Clarksville, TN, he attended Austin Peay State University and Southern Seminary where he obtained his Masters of Divinity. He was a member of Arrowhead Church. He faithfully worked with the Baptist Collegiate Ministry since 2001, serving at both Lincoln Memorial University and Walters State University Youth Ministry before moving on to campus ministry where he served until his death. He lived a life of humble service to his college students that will leave an indelible impact on this world. If you came through the BCM, you were sure to find a place to belong and connect. Damon made sure of it. The same was true in his personal life. If you walked through life with him or were introduced to Damon on any given day, he made you feel seen. His friendly, inviting spirit, his love of Fortnite, and all things game related, his obsession with vintage t-shirts, and knowledge of every genre of music imaginable made him relatable, but it was his faith, the way he challenged people in their thinking and their walk with God, and the way he led by example that have changed and left forever an imprint on so many lives. Damon was the biggest encourager and fan of the family he loved so dearly. Whether it was helping Shellie with getting her classroom ready for another year, spending time in those long talks with his son, Caleb, making memories on long drives with his daughter, Taylor, who calls him the “best travel buddy ever”, or jamming out with his daughter, Tori, who shared his love for music, he LOVED his family and spending time traveling to national parks and beyond were some of the memories they will always hold dear. The family will receive friends from 5 – 7 p.m. Tuesday, September 9th at Westside Chapel Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 7 p.m. with Rev. Ben Shoun officiating. Family and friends will meet at 11 a.m. Wednesday, September 10th at Bethesda Cemetery for graveside services, where he will be laid to rest close to his daughter, Tori. Pallbearers will be Caleb Billings, Enoch Annoy, Brad Galyon, Nick Cline, Drew Robinson, and Andrew Odom.
