Decker Calloway Waddell, was born into the arms of Jesus on Friday, June 13, 2025. Though his time with us was heartbreakingly brief, Decker Calloway knew only love. From the moment he was hoped for, prayed over, and dreamed about, he was surrounded by warmth, tenderness, and an outpouring of affection that will never be forgotten. Decker is the beloved son of Josh and Mekenzie Waddell and treasured baby brother to Rhett. He is deeply loved by his grandparents, Scott and Dee Winstead, John Waddell, and Annette Waddell (Kevin Hatfield); his aunt and uncle, Morgan Blair (DJ); his precious cousins, Charleigh and Leon; great-grandparents and several other family members. His presence, though fleeting, left a profound mark on the hearts of his countless extended family members and friends who walked this journey alongside his family in faith and love. We take comfort in knowing that Decker is now resting safely in the arms of Jesus – whole, healed, at peace, and cherished in Heaven. Though we never heard his cries or saw his smile, his life is a testimony of love’s enduring power, and he will remain a light in our hearts forever. The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the compassionate doctors, nurses, and staff at Fort Sanders and East Tennessee Children’s Hospital who cared for Decker and our family with gentle kindness. A special thank you also to Westside Chapel Funeral Home and Jarnagin Cemetery for the reverent care and support they have provided during this difficult time. The family will receive friends from 1 – 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 18th at Westside Chapel Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 2 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Jarnagin Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly ask that Teddy Bears be brought to the service in honor of Decker, as a small gesture to bring comfort to other children and families in his memory. “Let the little children come to me. . . for the Kingdom of Heaven belongs to such as these.” Matthew 19:24. Arrangements by Westside Chapel Funeral Home in Morristown.
