Delta “Tonita” Collins, age 80, of Morristown, passed away Monday, May 31, 2021 at Morristown-Hamblen Healthcare System. Tonita was an expert seamstress. She made wedding dresses, children’s clothes, quilts, masks, and everything in between. No one ever left her house unless she gave you something to take home with you. She was also an excellent cook, sharing food with lots of people. Tonita was saved at an early age and was a faithful member of Holt’s Baptist Church and attended until her health declined. She was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Delta Gilbert; grandparents, Horace and Hattie Gilbert and Grover and Gincey Holt; brother, Richard Grover Gilbert; daughter, Connie Sue Smith; and her precious grandson, Corey Knight. She is survived by her husband of thirty-nine years, Donald Collins; son, Chris (Christina) Knight; grandchildren, Clarissa (Chad) Greene and Travis Davis; great-grandchildren, Caleb, Carly, Tre, Kloe, and Braylen; brother, Carroll (Linda) Gilbert; sister-in-law, Retha Gilbert; step-children, Bryan, Ernie, and Jeff Collins and Sandy Jarnigan; several step-grandchildren and step-great grandchildren; special friends, Virginia Hensley, Jerrell Elliott, and Steve and Leslie Hodges; and numerous family and friends. Family and friends will meet at 4 p.m. Thursday, June 3rd at Holt’s Baptist Church Cemetery for graveside services with Pastor Alan Lamb officiating.
