Douglas "Doug" Campbell Obituary

Douglas “Doug” Campbell, age 62, of Talbott, passed away Saturday, August 24, 2024. Doug was a loving and giving husband, stepfather, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. Doug was born in Texas May 30, 1962, to Robert Lee and Flossie Howard Campbell. Doug was a graduate of Morristown East High School, Carson-Newman University and Southwestern Baptist Seminary in Texas (master's in religious education). Doug touched the lives of countless students throughout his life working as a pastor and in case management across the country. He pastored at First Baptist Church in Martinsburg, WV and Harvest Pointe Community Church in Charles Town, WV.  He worked as a life coach as well as a chaplain.  Doug worked at the Board of Child Care in West Virginia, helping children placed in state custody. Doug returned to Tennessee to work for his long-time friend, John Smyth, at EBS. Through this connection, he met the love of his life, Rebecca. Doug was able to return to his call of working with students as he was case manager at Kingswood Home for Children. Doug continued his passion for working with students during the last three years as he developed a Case Management program at the Wellness Center at Carson Newman University. Doug poured into immeasurable students while at Carson Newman.  Students from across campus knew and loved Doug. Doug loved the students and showed them compassion on their best and worst days. They knew that Doug was available for help and counsel.  Doug was also known for his “Donuts with Doug” events which became a great opportunity to interact and engage with students and staff across the campus. Doug was an active member at True Life Church in Jefferson City, where he loved the people, especially the members of his small group. Doug was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Campbell and Flossie Campbell. He is survived by the loves of his life, Rebecca Campbell; stepchildren, Daniel Price, David Price and Gretchen Hunley; granddaughter, Nadiline; mother-in law, Peggie Corbett; brother-in-law Jimmy (Beth) Ballinger; brother, David (Patty) Campbell; nephews, Bradford (Morgan) Campbell, Jonathon Campbell, Caleb (Rachel) Ballinger, and Nicholas Ballinger; and niece, Carissa Ballinger.
