Dana L. Boatman, Th.D., Graduated to Glory by going to live with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on April 13, 2021 at 12:34 p.m. at The Hartford (Hospice) House of Owensboro, KY. Dana was born September 3, 1932 in Morristown, TN. He met and married his wife, Mildred Joan Nichols, in Elkhart, IN. He served in the U.S. Navy from January 1951 – December 1954. He was employed by McDonnell Douglas Corp. for 19 ½ years. He began as a Design Engineer (4 years). Engineering Supervisor – Systems and Electronic Engineering(7 years). Manager – Spacecraft Analysis Team, Mission Control Center NASA/Houston, Gemini Program. Project Manager - Shuttle Integrated Computer Systems Verification (3 years). Program Manager – Skylab Mission Operations (5 years). Graduated from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Ft. Worth, TX with a Master of Divinity Degree and later received his Doctor of Theology from Andersonville Baptist Seminary. He was Senior Pastor in Manchester and Bowling Green, KY and Pueblo West, CO. Served as Interim Pastor for several churches in Knoxville, TN and the surrounding area. He and his wife Joan served as ushers for the UT Lady Vols Basketball and the UT Football Teams. He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Elvia Boatman; wife, Joan Boatman; daughter, Christine Dadisman; and sister, Betty Jo Boatman. He is survived by his wife, June Boatman of Knoxville, TN; three children: Dana L. (Kim) Boatman II of Dallas, TX , Jeffrey Boatman of Bowling Green, KY, and Caryn (Tim) Trout of Owensboro, KY. Three grandchildren; Dana Ray and Cayla Trout of Owensboro, KY and Tara (Clint) Gray of New Bern, N.C.; and many dear family and friends. The family wishes to thank Hospice of Knoxville, TN and Owensboro, KY for their support and care and many friends and neighbors for their love and prayers. Graveside services will be at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 17th at Jarnagin Cemetery in Morristown, TN. with Rev. Tim Trout officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations to the First Assembly of God Church of Owensboro, Kentucky. Arrangements by Westside Chapel Funeral Home in Morristown.
