Dr. Gregory Edwin Neilson

Dr. Gregory E. Neilson, age 57, of Morristown, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, January 18, 2022 after a long battle with cancer. Born in Queens, New York on February 25, 1964, he lived with his parents on Long Island, New York before moving to Bettendorf, Iowa. They moved to Sarasota, Florida before finally settling in Morristown. He graduated from Morristown-Hamblen High School West in 1982 and went to the University of Tennessee and Tennessee Tech before joining the Air Force. While in the Air Force stationed on Guam, he met his wife, Marjorie. They were then stationed at Castele AFB in California. He rose to the rank of Sergeant before receiving an honorable discharge and returning to Morristown. Greg proceeded to pursue a degree in Pharmacy. He graduated with a Doctor of Pharmacy degree in May of 1997 and he worked as a pharmacist in Morristown. He was preceded in death by maternal grandparents, George and Laura (Williams) Litzenburg; paternal grandparents, Edwin and Dorothy (Broad) Neilson; father, Dr. Edwin Neilson; and daughter, Kayleigh Neilson. He is survived by his wife, Marjorie (Davis) Neilson; daughter, Jessica McAuley and her husband, Petty Officer 2nd Class, Brady McAuley; son, Ian Neilson; sister, Dr. Janice (Neilson) Lewis; brother and sister-in-law, Matt and Tish (Wilson) Neilson; sister-in-law, Jennifer (Davis) McCoy; brother-in-law, James Davis; and five nieces and four nephews. The family will receive friends from 12:30 – 2:30 p.m. Saturday, January22nd at Westside Chapel Funeral Home. A memorial service will follow at 2:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Private interment for the family will be held later at Hamblen Memory Gardens. Arrangements by Westside Chapel Funeral Home in Morristown.
