Elizabeth "Betty" Mae (Cosson) Akins

Elizabeth “Betty” Cosson Jennings Akins, age 93, of Morristown, passed away Wednesday, December 31, 2025 at her residence. She was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, William Sidney Cosson and Elizabeth Cosson Campbell; brothers, Dr. William Edward Cosson, David Frederick Cosson, James Lynn Cosson, and Ernest Vernon Cosson; sisters, Mildred Almyra Cosson Dixon and Roberta Ann Cosson Rogers; husband, Herschel Edward Jennings; and granddaughter, Stephanie Rockwood. She is survived by her husband, James Edward Akins; sons, Herschel Edward Jennings, Jr. and wife, Carla Murphy Jennings, Michael Douglas Jennings, and Jon Kevin Jennings and wife, Donna Darnell Jennings; daughter, Patricia Ann McGoldrick; step-sons, Lynn Edward Akins and James Lee Akins; step-daughter, Mitzi Janell Asher; nine grandchildren; one great-grandson; one great-granddaughter; and one great-great granddaughter. The family will receive friends from 12 -1 p.m. Monday, January 5th at Westside Chapel Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. with Rev. David Williams officiating. Interment will follow at Hamblen Memory Gardens. Arrangements by Westside Chapel Funeral Home in Morristown.
