Emmitt Gillis Hagood, age 91, of Morristown, passed away Wednesday, December 31, 2025 at Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center in Knoxville. He was a member of Cherokee Hills Baptist Church for over sixty five years and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving during the Korean War. Emmitt retired from Magnavox and was an avid traveler, visiting over sixty countries, taking sixty three cruises, and visited every state, including Hawaii ten times. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and great-great grandfather and will be dearly missed. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe Neal and Livonna Hagood; and son, Emmitt Joseph Hagood. He is survived by his wife of sixty eight years, Mary Hagood; sons, Chris (Nancy) Hagood and Nathan (Donna) Hagood; grandchildren, Tara Hawood, Erin (Brandon) Caudill, Ryan Hagood, Emily (Damien) Russell, Amber Hagood, Kimberly Hagood, and Christina King; nine great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; sister, Sylvia (Charles) Carr; several nieces and nephews; special friends, Gail and Lynn McCoy; and his friends at the Senior Citizen Center. The family will receive friends from 5 – 7 p.m. Monday, January 5th at Westside Chapel Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 7 p.m. with Rev. Brian Blair officiating. Family and friends will meet at 10 a.m. Tuesday, January 6th at Hamblen Memory Gardens for graveside services. Arrangements by Westside Chapel Funeral Home in Morristown.
